GRAND EST ARTIST RESIDENCYAUTOMNE 09
49 NORD 6 EST - FRAC LORRAINE, METZ
As part of the annual program of interregional residencies meant to promote and support artists residing or working in the Grand Est region, FRAC Lorraine welcomes Claire Morel (Alsace).
Claire Morel’s artistic territory unfolds around writing as image, around the book as an object: that is, writing as a field of experimentation. She imagines the book not as a product of a technology—–the printing press——but as a space: an architecture, a landscape, an echo chamber which opens up a interstitial dimension. Her approach is thus that of a reader rather than that of an author; and when she appropriates a book, she does it through erasure, covering over, and rewriting.
