Originally from Los Angeles, currently living between Amsterdam and elsewhere, Lynn\u00e9e Denise has compiled an alternative archive of black queer music and spaces that connects New York, Chicago, London, Detroit and Johannesburg, and spans more than 20 years.

To describe her approach, which is both sensitive and theoretical, she coined the term “DJ Scholarship” redefining the role of the DJ, from a simple party purveyor to an archivist and cultural custodian.

\u00c9lev\u00e9 dans les quartiers populaires de Dakar, Atlantik a \u00e9t\u00e9 berc\u00e9 par la musique des ann\u00e9es 70 et du d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 80. Il collectionne des disques de diff\u00e9rents styles musicaux comme la Rumba, le Mbalax, l\u2019Afrobeat, le Merengue, la Cumbia, la Biguine et le Gwo-Ka des Antilles... Riches d\u2019origines g\u00e9ographiques tr\u00e8s diverses, leurs rythmes et leurs voix partagent une \u00e2me et une histoire, travers\u00e9es par les rituels de transe, les chants des griots, les \u00e9changes culturels transafricains et internationaux, les routes de l\u2019esclavage, la colonisation et la mondialisation. Il aspire \u00e0 rapprocher les sonorit\u00e9s musicales des diff\u00e9rentes rives de l\u2019Atlantique et \u00e0 mettre en \u00e9vidence les liens qui les unissent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
