The work of Emma Perrochon (born in 1987 in Auxerre; lives and works in Nancy) is rooted in her knowledge of materials, their histories, characteristics, and requirements. Drawing on artisanal techniques, she explores the uses and contexts traditionally associated with specific raw materials, as well as the images they evoke, which are superposed on those before our eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever the forms she produces, the artist, who is a graduate of the Dijon School of Fine Arts, speaks of her artistic practice as the labor of a sculptor. Her techniques and gestures are not only the means of carrying out a project but are also bearers of meanings and reveal gaps in temporality or materials that are juxtaposed to tell intersecting stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perrochon\u2019s installation for Degr\u00e9s Est materializes one of the many, often unsettling intersections to be discovered in public space. Playing on the contrast between the fragility of human presence and the solidity of urban furniture, Emma Perrochon lends form to power relations between the materials and their assigned colors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false,"raw":"\n

Activ\u00e9 par des propositions des trois FRAC du Grand Est, il introduit \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 des pratiques artistiques actuelles, et souligne l\u2019engagement du Frac \u00e0 faire appara\u00eetre la pluralit\u00e9 au sein de la cr\u00e9ation contemporaine.

Le travail d\u2019Emma Perrochon (n\u00e9e en 1987 \u00e0 Auxerre, vit et travaille \u00e0 Nancy) prend sa source dans la connaissance des mat\u00e9riaux, leurs histoires, leurs caract\u00e9ristiques et leurs exigences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u2019appuyant sur des techniques issues de l\u2019artisanat, l'artiste interroge les usages habituellement associ\u00e9s \u00e0 des mati\u00e8res sp\u00e9cifiques, les contextes qui leur sont associ\u00e9s et les images qu\u2019elles nous \u00e9voquent, qui se superposent \u00e0 celles pr\u00e9sentes sous nos yeux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quelles que soient les formes qu\u2019elle produit, l\u2019artiste, qui a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole des Beaux-arts de Dijon, parle de sa pratique artistique comme d\u2019un travail de sculpture. La technique et le geste ne sont pas seulement un moyen de r\u00e9aliser un projet, ils sont porteurs de significations et font appara\u00eetre des \u00e9carts de temporalit\u00e9s, des mati\u00e8res qui se juxtaposent pour raconter des histoires qui se croisent.

Son installation pour Degr\u00e9s Est mat\u00e9rialise une des nombreuses intersections, souvent troublantes, que l\u2019on peut d\u00e9couvrir dans l\u2019espace public.
