\u25cf Marine Fr\u0153liger<\/a> (*1987, Strasbourg, lives and works around Vassivi\u00e8re Island) is an artist, curator and mediator\u2014a singular profile invited to occupy the Degr\u00e9s Est space at the suggestion of Fanny Gonella, director of Frac Lorraine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wake of her exhibition at the Octave Cowbell gallery in Metz in 2022, the artist invites us here to a paradoxical meditative experiment. Drawing on her experience as a mediator, she invites visitors to take the time to \u2018inhabit\u2019 the space of Degr\u00e9s Est. Let\u2019s take off our shoes, get comfortable on the mats and take our time. How much time do we really have? Enough to wait for a volcano to erupt? To remain patient while it sleeps? The artist likes to refer to such long stretches of time to evoke her practice, which oscillates between observation, production and transmission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Ourobouros<\/em>, a project begun in 2012, Marine Fr\u0153liger draws from her own collection (composed of photographs, embroidery, drawings, photocopies, screen captures, sound works, sculptures, etc.) to propose new assemblages\u2014including meditation mats placed on the floor. Certain images recur again and again, remodelled and reconfigured at each passage, just like the ever-repeating cycles of nature. The \u2018Oroboros\u2019<\/em>\u2014a symbol depicting a snake biting its own tail\u2014has become the title of this \u2018living archive\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 49 Nord 6 Est, we can literally immerse ourselves in these images and sounds, rethinking the prisms through which we perceive the world. These prisms come from science, art or esoteric practices, all of which are palliatives for living in physical and digital worlds that have become impractical.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Le 49 Nord 6 Est accueille le projet Be Aware<\/em>. Il met en lumi\u00e8re les femmes artistes du XXe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, ainsi que celles qui ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 les rendre visibles. Au sein d\u2019une structure l\u00e9g\u00e8re et color\u00e9e d\u2019assises et d\u2019\u00e9crans imagin\u00e9e par la designer matali crasset, les visiteurs.euses peuvent d\u00e9couvrir une histoire de l\u2019art mondiale et paritaire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
