To do so, the exhibition interlaces works from its collection with stories about pieces displayed in unusual locations, or museums on the move, as well as works by the Vienna-based Japanese artist Soshiro Matsubara. These components form a landscape \u2014 in equal parts fantastical and labyrinthine  \u2014 which fragments the viewer’s gaze. Dissolving the pretence of a single, privileged perspective, the exhibition reminds us of the multipliable ways in which an artwork \u2014 but also culture itself \u2014 can be approached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20 ans apr\u00e8s l\u2019ouverture de son lieu, le Frac Lorraine interroge les contextes dans lesquels les publics ont acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019art. Cette exposition place les dialogues changeants entre une \u0153uvre et son environnement au c\u0153ur du projet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entour\u00e9es du travail de l\u2019artiste japonais Soshiro Matsubara (vit et et travaille \u00e0 Vienne), les \u0153uvres de la collection c\u00f4toient des r\u00e9cits qui nous parlent de mod\u00e8les alternatifs d\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019art.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ces composantes forment un paysage fantasm\u00e9, sur fond de labyrinthe qui fragmente le regard. Il dissout le point de vue privil\u00e9gi\u00e9, rappelant ainsi qu\u2019il existe plusieurs mani\u00e8res de voir une m\u00eame \u0153uvre, mais aussi d\u2019envisager la culture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dans ces espaces \u00e0 g\u00e9ographie variable, les murs sont d\u00e9doubl\u00e9s pour devenir une pr\u00e9sence enveloppante et incertaine. Mais s\u2019ils deviennent eux-m\u00eames changeants, \u00e0 quoi s\u2019accrocher alors ? Aux \u0153uvres qui remplissent les salles. Elles parlent aussi bien des corps qui habitent l\u2019exposition, que de l\u2019exposition comme corps \u00e9trange. Elles constituent cette famille qu\u2019est une collection d\u2019art, avec ses cousin.es qui s\u2019accordent plus ou moins, ses fr\u00e8res et s\u0153urs aux airs de ressemblance.

Nous avons regard\u00e9 au-del\u00e0 de nos murs pour y ramener des histoires qui viennent d\u2019ailleurs et qui parlent de strat\u00e9gies atypiques pour donner acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la culture - enfin laquelle\u202f: celle dont nous h\u00e9ritons ou celle des institutions\u202f? A-t-on besoin de les opposer ? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019exposition interroge ce qui se passe quand le contexte devient le sujet m\u00eame, cherchant \u00e0 renouveler la forme des liens entre culture et environnement, pour relier intimement l'art et la vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presque partout <\/em>(Almost Everywhere<\/em>) exhibition revolves around a perennial question: the ever-shifting dialogue between an artwork and its environment. 20 years after it opened its doors to the public, the Frac Lorraine explores how different contexts determine the way audiences access art. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To do so, the exhibition interlaces works from its collection with stories about pieces displayed in unusual locations, or museums on the move, as well as works by the Vienna-based Japanese artist Soshiro Matsubara. These components form a landscape \u2014 in equal parts fantastical and labyrinthine  \u2014 which fragments the viewer's gaze. Dissolving the pretence of a single, privileged perspective, the exhibition reminds us of the multipliable ways in which an artwork \u2014 but also culture itself \u2014 can be approached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
