Through words and images, the artist takes us back to the singular, and little known, history of forced Indochinese workers in Lorraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shared memories, words, life fragments, have been the points of departure for this fascinating research project conducted by a young filmmaker of Vietnamese origin, Ys\u00e9 Tran, in collaboration with the Lorraine author Pierre Daum who was the first to bring to light this forgotten page in French colonial history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A documentary film and a book based on the research conducted during this residency are forthcoming, with the support of the Lorraine Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ys\u00e9 Tran is a director of short films, as well as an actor, and she is going on tour with a Th\u00e9\u00e2tre National de Nice production. She is also a contributor to the magazine Traffic, Lettre du cinema, and the online journal M\u00e9diapart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pierre Daum, native of Thionville, is a journalist. Former correspondent in Austria for the daily Lib\u00e9ration, he has collaborated with numerous European newspapers: Le Monde, L\u2019Express, La Libre Belgique\u2026 and regularly contributes cover stories to Le Monde diplomatique. His research on France\u2019s colonial past has been published by Actes Sud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Retour en mots et en images sur une histoire singuli\u00e8re, trop souvent ignor\u00e9e, celle des travailleurs forc\u00e9s indochinois en Lorraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mises en commun des m\u00e9moires, des paroles, de morceaux choisis de vie, sont les points de d\u00e9part de ce passionnant travail de recherche \u2013 port\u00e9 par une jeune cin\u00e9aste d\u2019origine vietnamienne Ys\u00e9 Tran, en collaboration avec l\u2019auteur lorrain Pierre Daum, qui f\u00fbt le premier \u00e0 exhumer ce pan oubli\u00e9 de l\u2019histoire coloniale fran\u00e7aise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un documentaire et un livre, \u00e0 partir des recherches issues de cette r\u00e9sidence, sont en pr\u00e9paration avec le soutien de la R\u00e9gion Lorraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ys\u00e9 Tran est r\u00e9alisatrice de courts-m\u00e9trages mais aussi actrice, elle sera prochainement en tourn\u00e9e dans une cr\u00e9ation du Th\u00e9\u00e2tre National de Nice. Elle est \u00e9galement auteure pour Traffic, La lettre du cin\u00e9ma, M\u00e9diapart\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
